Business Manager

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time as a Job Share, Permanent

We are seeking an outstanding individual/s who share our values and ambitions, who will embrace an opportunity to contribute to the development of a new concept in local care for those diagnosed with life limiting or palliative conditions and to become a recognised centre of excellence in living well with cancer and other life limiting conditions.  This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the next phase of the development of Shalom House.  To achieve our objectives, Shalom House was registered with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) in October 2020.   In conjunction with our day centre, we are now able to provide continuing care for those with a palliative diagnosis or life-limiting condition.  Your expertise and enthusiastic approach to income generation, managing volunteers to support this effort and the strategic management of a non-profit organisation will be invaluable to ensure the future of this much-loved charity in Pembrokeshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the next phase of the development of Shalom House, as it moves from a palliative care day centre to a centre for living well with life limiting conditions.  Services will be expanded not only to include our traditional palliative services but also to support patients at home, working closely with our partners in the community.

Shalom House is a charity based in St Davids, and since 2007 has been proud to offer professional support to people in Pembrokeshire with life-limiting illness and to the family and friends who care for them. Shalom House is non-denominational and takes its name from the literal meaning “peace.”  We help people to live well with cancer and other serious conditions. We aim to enable all patients to manage their diagnosis to do the things that matter to them and to make their lives more comfortable than they otherwise would have been.  Our holistic care recognises the grief and loss of bereavement as we support patients and carers through their journey.  Our house in St Davids also provides a base for a range of complementary health services to support the local community.

Our clinical services are provided by Registered Nurses, supported by qualified Health Care Assistants, registered with Social Care Wales.  We also rely on the support of volunteers in a variety of roles.  The organisation is led by the Registered Care Manager, responsible for all clinical aspects of the charity, who reports to the Board of Trustees, together with the Business Manager, who will manage all other business aspects, particularly income generation to ensure the sustainability of the charity.
